He is naturally kind to others, though a bit apprehensive due to bullying. Pavel often has insecurities about his age, looks, abilities, personality, etc. also due to bullying. Even though he's almost always happy, he's also almost always nervous as well. There's the fear that the people he calls his friends might only say they're friends to be nice. OVERALL HISTORY:
April 02, 2241 was a day the Chekov's would cherish forever. It was the day their little boy entered the world. Pavel had been born in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia. The first few years of his childhood were very enjoyable. His mother doted on him as did his father. He was much like any other young child, albeit he showed signs of his soon to be great intelligence even as an infant, though in small ways such as saying his first words earlier than normal (same went for crawling and walking).
The older he got the more he wanted to learn. Both of his parents were unsure of how to satisfy his need for learning as neither of them were above the average IQ. It wasn't even that as much of the fact that he was so young. So this was how he was able to get his first telescope at the age of six. Before then he had been obsessed with the earth he lived on, but then that obsession grew to aliens and other, new worlds. He even made a life plan on how he would one day become a captain of his very own starship. The down side of this age was that the bullying started with kids mocking him for how smart he was. The fact that he was a few years younger than them only fueled to their hate.
The next major event in his life came at the age of ten when his mother passed away. She had always been a frail woman, but she had weakened ever since his birth. She passed away holding his hand a month after his birthday. Pavel had always been an emotional child, but for a long time after that he became cold. Her dying words had always been his motivation to go forward with his dreams. 'Go forth, my little Pasha, go forth and do great things.' He eventually had them engraved on a small stone slab which he kept on his bedside table.
For two solid years Pavel poured himself into his studies and blocked out the outside world. At first his father had tried to reach out to him, but he eventually gave up on the boy and grew just as distant. There was one person who was concerned about Pavel, though, and that was the school counselor, Alexander Dedov. Alexander one day had took Pavel aside and told him that he needed a way to vent his emotions. Seeing as the young boy had a wiry build he recommended running. At first He had dismissed the idea, but then he remembered what his mother had told him and realized that he would get nowhere like this. He started running. The more he ran, the more his personality returned. The biggest downside to that being the bullying once again began to effect him.
The more he was bullied, the more he ran. It wasn't long before he was running at least three miles a day. Three grew to four, and four to five, five to seven, and seven to how long he could run before his legs gave out. Alexander soon became his closest confidant about his problems. There wasn't much they could do about the bullying as the school system was rigged just as it was with most schools. Even so, Alexander offered what emotional support he could.
Even as Pavel returned to himself, his father never did. He remained just as distant as before. It was that which hurt Pavel the most. It showed him that even those who loved you the most could turn on you. So he ran and studied more in the hopes to impress his father enough to give him some sort of attention. It was futile and Chekov spent his remaining year of school at the age of thirteen just as depressed as before.
The end of his last year in grade school showed him to be the top of the class as well as the youngest by at least three to four years. It also brought and end to most of the bullying. His relief was greater than what he thought it could be. Now with his summer free to do as he pleased, Chekov began to run even more than before. He was able to hit marathon lengths now due to his extensive practicing. Though, those distances didn't come until more towed the end of his summer. Another upside to his summer was that Alexander stayed in touch with the young genius. It was he who recommended that he apply for star fleet. He also hinted that he should head for navigation. At first Pavel wondered why not captaincy, but the more he thought about the more he reused that his skill set was most beneficial to where Alexander said. He agreed and together they worked on his application.
He received a reply a month later that stated he was accepted. Alexander and his wife threw a small party for the boy. It was at the party where he received a gift from them. It was a kitten. She had bright blue eyes and a dark tabby pelt. It was a dark grey with barely noticeable black stripes. He fell in love immediately. When he asked them why they were giving him the cat Alexander told him that she was there for emotional support when he wasn't there. For the first time in four years he cried. He cried for everything he lost, everything he had gained, and for everything the Dedov's had done for him. The couple said nothing, but held him tight until he was done crying. The next day it was time for him to leave. Pavel had silently packed up all of his belongings in the middle of the night. He left nothing behind except for a note on his bed explaining what had happened to his father. Alexander and Diana (the wife) drove him to the station where he was supposed to be transported to Star Fleet academy. It was the last time he saw them in person.
Star Fleet Academy was a whole new world for the Russian. It was hot, humid, and beautiful. Everywhere he looked there was different species which he had only read about before. Per request and suggestion, Pavel was given a single bed dorm to avoid conflict with fellow students. He was only fourteen while most where either in their twenties or higher. The first thing Pavel did after settling in was to find a shop where he could get his mother's last words engraved. His room finally looked complete with that light gray slab sitting on his desk by his bed.
The years here went by more or less the same as they did in Russia. He was still at the top of his class, he still ran, and he was still bullied. If it weren't for his cat - which he named Lucy (the first name he had heard in America)- he would have slipped back into his depression that he suffered in Russia. It nearly happened when he received a message from his father early in his first year telling him never to return. He was confused at first, still holding onto that love a child has for their parents. He thought his father might have cared, but he knew that it was foolish to do so. Foolish it might have been, but he was still just fourteen.
During his time at the academy he completed the required four years in three, was at the too of his field of study, and he was also the youngest student to ever win a marathon. He had also been bullied a total of 598 times. Every year he aged the more he avoided talking to those in his class in hopes to lessen the attacks, but his grades and age still made him stand out. Then he graduated and the Romulans happened.
Then everyone was being sent out in response to an attack on Vulcan. He had been assigned to the newest ship, the Enterprise. For a brief moment he felt nothing but pride in the fact that he had been selected to work on the newest ship. Not only that, but he was on alpha shift! Though, he had little time to celebrate before he was moving into a room with a Hikaru Sulu. At first he had been afraid to room with a former student of his year, but his worries were for naught as he became good friends with the pilot.
That entire mission had been a rush for Pavel. He could practically feel the doubt being directed at him. He was the youngest member on the crew, heck, he was the youngest member to graduate being only seventeen. Yet he proved himself when he saved Kirk and Sulu. He had been able to work faster than the computer when typing in the coords for the transporter beam. He had received many congratulations for that, but he could tell that some still did not believe in him. After he lost Amanda he began to lose faith in himself as well. The rest of the mission was a blur for him. His main thought being that he had killed Spock's mother. He had let her die. In the end it had been his new roommate who had soothed his worries. Their friendship grew from there, which Pavel was entirely grateful for.
After the mission was over Pavel began to follow Spock and Scotty around on his free time when he wasn't running or doing other things. He was interested in both of their fields and was eager to learn more. Both Spock and Scotty had respectively showed him new and interesting things. Though, it was Scotty he tended to hang around more. Scotty and the ship. He also began to go on morning runs around the ship which he had been neglecting due to all the action. Another thing he noticed was that some of the crew were less than friendly towards the genius kid. The bullying was far less direct, but still there. It was a fact he had been able to keep from the friends he was actual making.
Pavel had fallen into a normal daily routine until Kahn happened. One moment he was the head navigator, next moment he was promoted to lieutenant and head of engineering. No longer was he a gold shirt, but a red shirt. At first he had been hesitant to assert his authority, but he soon realized that it would be necessary if he wished to accomplish anything. So he did, then everything went wrong and kept on going wrong. For all his intellect he had failed, he did something wrong. Or so he thought until he learned the truth. Once again the events were a blur of action and fear. The next thing he knew his hands were holding onto his captain's as he and Scotty dangled over a long drop. Then he pulled them up again, rush, and he was beaming Uhura down on hopes of saving the captain.
A year later and they were on a five year mission, the captain brought back to life, and he was back where he belonged. The navigating whiz kid ensign.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
The demon lay back on the beach chair under the shade of an umbrella. He was currently enjoying a sunny day on the beaches of Hawaii. He was wearing tacky flowered swimming trunks, sunglasses, and a white nose. He looked liked the perfect stereotypical tourist. He was taking the day off, per say. It was a hard earned event that was harder to come by as time went on. Being the King of Hell was exhausting with so many idiots breathing down the back of his neck. As proof of his day off he even had his phone turned off! He let out a long sigh and relaxed further into his chair. He pushed away his thoughts for a moment and just focused on the warmth of the sun on his lower legs. He was able to sit like that for an entire five minutes.
He was crushed to the ground by a large, dripping wet Kenzie. He sighed again, but more of a sigh of defeat. He was never going to catch a break. He ruffled the hellhound's head and pried the log of a stick she carried in her mouth. He threw it back into the ocean then fixed his little area up. Once he was done he sat back down in his chair, but he didn't relax into it like before. He watched Kenzie swim out in the crystal waters in chase of her 'stick'. He let a fond smile cross his face, she was just about the only thing he would admit to caring about. Well, she had been his loyal pet for the past two centuries. He stopped before he became too emotional, it wouldn't do, even if it was over a beloved pet.
As he looked over the ocean he let his mind wander. It almost immediately went to the gods. Hades was growing too powerful for his likes. He only released the damned thing so he could remain alive. The Olympian had promised him Hell, but Crowley could feel a shift in power. It was subtle, but it was happening more and more each day. He had been uneasy about this the second he heard they were returning. No one ever wanted to keep the demons, they wouldn't be any different. Then there were the Leviathans. Super deadly and wanted to rid the world of demons as well. Just peachy. It wasn't like Crowley had enough things trying to off him as well. His biggest problem was trying to figure out who the biggest threat was. Gods, Angels, Castiel, who?
It was as if magic summoned the maniac himself. Crowley scowled to the sky as he heard the 'god' speak to him. "Bollocks!" he cursed. He teleported to his room inside the mansion and changed into his usual black suit. Just his luck. Not to mention the super charged meat suit just happened to be in a mood. It was his bloody day off! He could feel his rage bubbling up before he forcibly squashed it back. Considering his soon-to-be-company he would rather not want to get him angry. The part of his mind that wasn't busy worrying about everything wondered what he wanted him for. Well, there was only one way to find out, and it was best not to keep the giraffe waiting.
The demon teleported once again to the location where he sensed the angel was at. He sneered at his surroundings and glanced at Castiel. "You could have picked a cleaner dump to talk in, Giraffe." he said with distaste, "Oh, I'm sorry, God." Crowley gave him a good look over and arched a brow. He was in pain. It was easy for the demon to tell because he'd been inflicting and receiving it for centuries. His vessel didn't look all to hot either. He was surprised it was still stitched together with all those souls squirming around inside. "The parasites giving you trouble?" he asked in mock concern. "Didn't anyone warn you that this could possibly be a bad idea? I mean, it's not exactly obvious or anything, right?" Tempers high or not, Castiel summoned him and he was going to get all of the demon whether he liked it or not. He considered that for a second and let out a sharp whistle. Kenzie appeared from around the corner soaking wet with her log in her mouth. There, now it was all of him.
