Andorian A humanoid species that considers themselves a race of warriors. They have blue skin and antennae. Android Androids are technically a technology, and are fairly new. They are humanistic robots and are not capable of feeling or expressing emotion. They are very strong. They usually have a chalky complexion. They can be made to look like any race, but most look fairly human. They are essentially a computer and have a chip somewhere on their body that runs them. Betazoid Betazoids are a humanoid race that look a lot like humans. The difference in appearance is that most Betazoids have darker eyes and larger pupils. They are a telepathic race. Borg So far, the Federation has not run into the Borg yet, but they are a group of several species who have been linked to the hive mind by the Borg queen. Borg can be any race, and are usually unable to think for themselves. They crave perfection and community. When a Borg is no longer useful, it is disposed of. Borg are created by assimilation – a process that adds technology to the specie's genetic makeup. When a Borg is separated from the hive for an extended period of time, it will go crazy, or shut itself down and deactivate. Cardassian Another humanoid race, Cardassians have greysish skin. Their faces are covered in ridges and a spoon shape sits between their eyes on their forehead. Cardassians value family, duty, and glorification of their state. Human Humans originated on Earth, but have since colonized several planets within the Federation. Their strengths and weaknesses depend on the individual. Klingon Klingons are not currently part of the Federation. In fact, the peace between the Federation and the Klingon Empire is very fragile. Klingons are known primarily for their distinguished forehead ridges and their large build. They are a warrior race and pride themselves on honor. They are also known for their hot tempers and the ease with which the start a battle. Orion Orion is primarily a slave planet, and the citizens there typically grow up to have a career in the entertainment industry on their planet, though some have left their planet to do other things. They are known for the green or blue skin, and usually have a willingness to please. Romulan Huminoid in race, Romulans are not part of the Federation of Planets. Romulance are decended from Vulcans and so they have a similar history and primary language. Romulans possess greater strength than humans, but are weaker than vulcans. They have weaker facial features than vulcans. Some Romulans have taken to tattooing their bodies to distinguish themselves. Only few Romulans have telepathic abilities, and those that do have them do not possess great ability. Romulance are arrogant and believe that they are destined to rule the galaxy. Vulcan Telepathic humanoids, Vulcans are one of the co-founding race of the Federation. They possess greater knowledge and strength. They also have the ability to control their emotions. Vulcans are taught to control their emotions from an early age because emotions are stronger in vulcans. They believe that logic should be the basis for any decision, and have attempted to elimate motion, including pain, from their biology. Controlling emotions does not mean that vulcans do not have them – it only means that they will show no outward signs of expressing an emotion, and most will insist that they do not have them at all.Vulcans have superior strength and the ability to Mind Meld, which allows someone else to see their thoughts (usually by placing their fingers strategically on the other's face). They also use pressure points to disarm an opponent, and believe in extensive meditation. Vulcan appearnce is distinguished by their slanted eyebrows, pointy ears, and usually a straight hair cut. Male vulcans also go through a period known as the Pon Farr, which occures every seven years and conisists of strong, uncontrollable emotion and the need to either mate or battle. The Pon Farr is usually over as soon as one of those two events are done.**Note: There is a small group of vulcans who believe that a balance between emotion and logic is the best way of life. They are known as the V'tosh ka'tur, which translates to “vulcans without logic.” Despite their group name, they do believe that logic has its place in their existence, they just feel that supressing emotions is unnecessary. Hybrids Though it's not really polite to call them that, hybrids are people who are from more than one race. For example, Spock is half human/half vulcan. Usually the individual will choose which side they wish to embrace (vulcans usually lean toward their vulcan herritage). The distinguishing traits of their domininant side will be less pronounced the more the line gets diluted. Species like Vulcans and Klingons take a slower time to become less pronounced as they are extremely dominant trates. Note: If you make a character that does not look like a human, you do not need to alter face claim pictures unless you want to. We are all capable of using or imagination (I hope). |
