This is a list of jobs and ranks on the USS Enterprise. This is a very basic list. Since our focus is on the ship and Starfleet, I've only included things that you might find on the Enterprise. So keep in mind that on Earth or other planets you can have Professors, Ambassadors, and all of that good stuff.

**Yeoman – Usually a woman, but can be a man. Yeoman are usually the rank of Crewman or Ensign and are usually assigned to a Senior Officer. They perform tasks like delivering messages or assisting an officer in some way. They function primarily as secretaries. Yeoman wear the color of the officer that they are assigned to (because their focus is usually in the subject) or red (for communication). The Yeoman gets to choose which.
**Science – Science officers are tasked with collecting and analyzing data and developing or expanding on technology. They are also the ones who categorize planets and decide whether or not it's safe for humanoid life. Science Officers wear blue.
**Engineering – Engineers work with maintaining the ship's systems and running the engine. Most of the work in the Engineering room, though there is an engineering spot on the bridge. Engineering Officers wear red.
**Communications – These are the officers responsible for most, if not all, of the communication on and off the ship. They consists mostly of translators, and have the job of making contact with other life forms, as well as contacting Starfleet and relaying alerts. Communications officers wear red.
**Navigation – The Navigation officers have the task of plotting flight courses and actually flying the ship. Navigation Officers wear yellow/gold.
**Medical – The Medical officers are a sort of sub-group of Science Officers, but they have their own category because of their profession. These people are made up of doctors and nurses. Medical Officers wear blue.
**Security – Security is responsible for the safety of the ship and it's crew. Security Officers wear red.
**Command – There is typically only one Command officer on any given ship unless the ship is transporting someone else. That Commanding Officer is the Captain. The Command job is different from the rank, Commander. Command officers wear yellow/gold.

There are other fields of study, and officers tend to have their specialties. The specialties are categorized into whatever is closest to their area of expertise. For instance, officers with a specialty of history would be categorized into Science due to the fact that Science is the most relatable subject.
