OVERALL: Sophia can be a bit of a difficult person to be around. True, she is an outgoing person who can be incredibly warm when she wants to be; it's just that she has a tendency to be a bit too talkative or overbearing for some peoples' tastes. When talking about something she's passionate about, Sophia can literally go on for hours. She's been known to continue on a conversation by herself even after her partner has left or fallen asleep. Additionally, once she gets an idea in her head about how something should be done, she can be very difficult to sway. Furthermore, her upbringing and ancestry placed a high value on honesty, almost to the point where it would be considered rude. This has made her seem quite blunt at times and left her with zero tolerance for those who lie. Like all Betazoids, Sophia possesses empathic abilities. Due to this, she is often quite sensitive and may need to be left alone after being surrounded by negative emotions for too long.

OVERALL HISTORY:

Sophia was born on November 16, 2235 on Betazed. She was the first of two children to Ynez Astor, a xenobiologist, and Raymon Astor, a Starfleet Lieutenant. Her early life was a quiet time. Both her parents took time off from their work to raise her as their jobs required them to be away from home for long periods of time. Neither parent could bear to be away from her that long. If you asked her, she would say that was just because she was 'too damn cute'. As it was, most of her days were spent going to school or playing with her younger brother (the accident) who was born when she was five. The routine was occasionally broken with a trip to the Opal Sea or a visit to relatives who lived across the planet.

Nothing ever really changed until she was eight, when her family decided to move to Earth. Her parents had decided it would be beneficial for her and her brother to learn more about their human ancestry. Until that point they had been raised almost entirely as Betazoids and suddenly they found themselves immersed in a new and foreign culture.
